Fleets And Combat / Battle Mechanics
Battle Randomness And Results
Every battle has its own seed, a number that drives everything random in it. The same fleets with the same seed always play out exactly the same way. See Battle Mechanics for the rules themselves.
What Is Random
- Whether a skill fires, by its Initiating Chance
- The damage spread: every hit is multiplied by a random value from 0.9 to 1.1
- Critical hits and Evasion
- The chance of a status effect taking hold
- Targets, when a skill picks its targets at random
- Who goes first when two units have exactly the same Data Rate
What Is Not Random
- Turn order by Data Rate
- The order of the Preparation Turn
- Formation counters, Formation Mastery and the Lead Commander bonus
- Capacitor, level difference and Armor
- Skills with a 100% Initiating Chance
How The Result Is Decided
A fleet that loses all of its ship squads is defeated. Summoned squads do not count. If both fleets still have ship squads after 8 turns, the battle is a draw.
Reading The Battle Report
- Overview shows each ship and commander with the skills it launched and how many squads they destroyed or repaired.
- Data shows the numbers per unit, such as damage dealt and taken, repairs, Interrupt Count and Disrupt Count.
- Log goes through the battle line by line, from the Preparation Turn to the last turn.
Close And Lopsided Fights
When one fleet is much stronger, the random parts barely matter and the same side wins almost every time. When the fleets are close, the damage spread, critical hits and skill chances decide, and the same two fleets can win, lose or draw against each other.
Fleet Builder And Battle Simulator
The OpenConquest Fleet Builder and Battle Simulator runs the game's own battle rules on fleets you build:
- Run Many Battles fights the same two fleets with different seeds and shows how often the battle ends in Victory, Defeated or Draw for your fleet.
- Every battle shows its seed. Enter a seed to replay that exact battle.
- Export Fleet gives a code for one fleet, or both fleets and the seed, that anyone can paste into Import Fleet.
